Welcome to the Maple Hts Softball Website!
April, 2016 UPDATE: Unless there is an influx of teams, it appears the Maple Heights Men's leagues will be canceled this summer.
Although we have tried our best the past couple of seasons, which included the actual closing and no funding
to the recreation department, the GSL team always put their best foot forward in making the program a success.
We are continuing to keep options open, and the plan is to continue to at least host tournaments this spring
and summer, and will provide updates on the site. Fields will still be maintained by our volunteer
As most are aware, the past several seasons have been
a bit of a challenge as we are totally self-sustaining, and thanks to the dedication of Cliff Majni and his
GSL team we have been able to host softball leagues and tournaments in Maple Heights the past several seasons.
Included in the leagues and tournament, GSL has made donations to the City of Maple Heights, The Maple Heights
Senior Center, a tournament for those battling cancer, and a very popular summer tournament for local pet shelters
whereby food in excess of 2 tons has been donated thanks soley to the dedication, generosity and committment of the
softball players and their 'significant others.' Cliff and his team would like to thank you for your support!
The Adult Softball program brought in over $30,000 to the City in entry fees during its 'high times' years ago, not
to mention the additional revenues that fast food restaurants and area businesses would see as a direct result of
the ballfields use. As recently as 3 years ago entry fees still totaled around $20,000 (just from softball), yet despite
these facts the whole department was shut down. Fortunately, all 'leisure time activities' - of which the recreation department was listed
as a line item - were not closed, as
the Senior Center, thanks in part to donations, fund raisers, and a recently passed levy, will remain open, with a staff
of around 10 employees to serve the city seniors
Check the site for your team's stats, standings, league leaders and daily results. League schedules, upcoming tournaments, updated field conditions,
and makeup game information can also be accessed.
New teams and players interested in joining the Maple Heights leagues
will be pleased to discover your results, stats, standings and field conditions are posted faster and more accurately
than any other program around. We are able to do this by handling all the stats 'in-house' in a PDF format - no outsourcing of the stat
sheets which create unnecessary delays and errors. The field maintenance crew are the same ones that update the field conditions and provide you with
a first-class playing experience - providing you with the information you need on a daily basis (and, when conditions warrant, hourly!)
A Message Board is available to post information concerning players looking for teams, lost or "for sale" items, or discuss the league(s) and other topics. Whether you've played in Maple Heights before, or are new to the program, we hope that you will like the new changes in store for this season, and that your choice to play will be in Maple Heights - "The Home of Premier Softball!"
Please check the League Applications link for additional information concerning applications, league fees and general information.
Maple Heights provides weeknight Men's softball (several levels of competition), Women's weeknight league, Men's Sunday Morning league, and the always Co-ed leagues.
Additionally, for 2013, Maple Heights will again offer a Men's "Premier League". Please contact us
for more information.
